This is National Volunteer Week – a week when we pause to acknowledge and thank the countless men, women and teenagers who have volunteered for Hospice Savannah over the past 36 years. We were founded by pioneering volunteers who saw the need for hospice care in our community, and as we have expanded coverage into five counties and grown our services and programs, we have relied on more and more volunteers to help fulfill our mission.
It is my delight to work alongside our dedicated volunteers and I invite you to join me on Friday, April 17, 2015 as we share our memories of one our original volunteers – Ms Sally Mandel who recently died under our care at Hospice Inpatient Unit (HIPU). Miss Sally was on the United Way planning committee which was formed to explore bringing hospice care to the Savannah community nearly four decades ago. She remained an active volunteer up to a few months before her death; so we will be gathering at 3:00 p.m. this Friday in the Hospice Inpatient Unit (HIPU) Community Education room to honor her. How fitting it will be to share our stories about this outstanding woman and volunteer during National Volunteer Week! Hope to see you there!!
