I am very proud to report that we now have a total of 34 employees certified by the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses. Such expertise really demonstrates our organization’s commitment to clinical excellence and quality in the provision of care to our patients and families facing life-liming illnesses. Additionally we are the only hospice in the Coastal Empire accredited by The Joint Commission.
It was my delight to recognize the following newly certified or re-certified employees at last week’s staff meeting:
Monica Anderson, Chief Clinical Officer, certified as a Hospice and Palliative Care Administrator (CHPCA); Edwina Barnett, Homecare CNA, certified as a Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing Assistant (CHPNA); Regina Jones, Hospice Inpatient Unit (HIPU) Charge Nurse; Angela Lanham, After-Hours RN; Liz Maher, Homecare RN; and Susan McCaskill, Referral Center RN, (re-certification) – all certified as Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses (CHPN).
Additionally Dr. Kenneth Eugene, Dr. Julia Johnson and Dr. Martin Sheldon, Hospice Savannah physicians and Dr. Kelly Erola, Chief Medical Officer, (re-certification) have been awarded Certificates of Added Qualifications in Hospice and Palliative Medicine to their Board Certifications. Each physician has successfully completed certification examinations through the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Cynthia Carter also holds certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
