Nelson Mandela’s illness has put the spotlight on Palliative Care, and that’s a good thing. Here at Hospice Savannah we have forged the way to offer palliative care both at Memorial Health UMC and at St. Joseph’s/Candler. A 2010 New England Journal of Medicine paper found patients who receive early palliative care experienced less depression, improved quality of life and survived 2.7 months longer than patients who didn’t receive the same care.

As always, I am so proud of the work we do and the services we can offer to our community. If you have questions or comments about palliative care, please don’t hesitate to reach me.
