As we prepare to leave the holiday season and enter a new year, I’d like to thank the many friends of Hospice Savannah for their support and generosity.
I think of volunteer Ruth Pauley who bought and delivered turkey dinners to patients and families in Port Wentworth, Bloomingdale and Savannah; of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Futch (aka Santa and Mrs. Claus), our mascot Henry the Hospice Savannah Hound and music volunteer Jim Stettler for sharing their love and talents at Hospice Inpatient Unit (HIPU); of volunteer Pam Phillips who donated a new typewriter to an elderly patient so he can type up his many inventions; of the friends and family of patient Robbie Smith who for the 10th consecutive year raised more than 5,000 dollars at a golf outing in Robbie’s honor; and I think of our own employees who generously gathered hundreds of toiletries for the homeless in our community.
We are our brother’s keeper and I am honored to work for an organization that lives out this maxim every day. A Happy New Year to one and all!
